One bedroom, one bathroom private apartment with pull-out sofa bed located in the heart of Lafayette known as “Freetown”.

The home is a 3-plex, with one apartment also listed on airbnb and another occupied by the home owner. However, this is a completely private apartment.

*The apartment is climate controlled from 69-73 degrees as advised by the NREL. A constant temperature helps to dehumidify the air. Guests don’t have control over the thermostat**

Two rooms, one room with a living area and fold out couch. The second room has a full-size bed with private bathroom. Guests sleeping on the couch bed must enter the bedroom to have access to the bathroom.

One designated parking spot in the front of the house and free street parking in front.

Parking instruction video will be sent before check-in.

Laundry room is available and shared by all persons on the property. Guests are not allowed to use the laundry between 11 am – 3 pm.

The Freetown-Port Rico Historic District is a historic district located in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana.[2]

The 220 acres (0.89 km2) area included 677 contributing buildings and 197 non-contributing buildings, as well as one contributing structure. The district comprises residential, commercial and institutional buildings with styles typical of late 19th to early 20th century southern towns, including Folk Victorian, Colonial Revival, Neo-classical Revival, Tudor Revival, Eclectic, Bungalow/Craftsman, Minimal Traditional, Ranch and Commercial.[2][3]

The area includes some properties associated with Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI), a school founded in 1900 which later became the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Despite being inside the area, the individually listed First United Methodist Church is not considered part of the historic district.[3]

The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 2, 2016.

The Freetown-Port Rico Coterie was established in 2006, and is currently incorporating as a non-profit organization. Its 12 member board is comprised of residents and business owners within the neighborhoods. A simple definition of a Coterie would be: “an elected group of neighbors who join together to create plans.
